4. Enjoy a short picnic to the Elephant Falls

It was originally referred to as the Three Steps Waterfall because of the presence of steps here and is located 12 km away from the capital city. Later it was named as the Elephant Falls by the British. They named it, thus, owing to the stone there that looked like an elephant. However, this stone is no longer seen as it was destroyed in 1897 by an earthquake.

5. Go deep in the Mawjymbuin Caves

These ancient Caves of Shillong, are one of the popular tourist attractions of Shillong. It is known to be one of the world’s wettest place and is located 56 km from the city. As you explore the caves, you will come across the spectacular stalagmites inside it. One such large stalagmite in these naturally formed caves is in the shape of Shiva Linga and water drops steadily pour on it from a stone above.
