How to Stop Anxiety from Ruining Your Freelancing Career?

You’ve been doing all it takes to fetch a few more projects and make some additional money out of your freelancing career. But it doesn’t seem to be working. You’ve tried enough to convince your clients but there hasn’t been much success. As a result, you might be feeling anxious and wish to scream your heart out. Running out of work and desire of making more money can be extremely stressful.

What I want you to know is that stress is not going to help you even a bit. In fact, it comes with a potential to ruin your freelancing career. You must, therefore, learn to deal with your anxiety. By considering the things given below, you’ll find it much easier to maintain your calm and rake in the money you deserve.

The Fear of Losing Your Client

Is it that you offer your services at a very low rate?

And, you have been thinking of increasing your rates for a while but you fear to do so as it may result in loss of the existing clients. And you don’t have enough clients already.

Do you know by getting terrified, you actually hold yourself back from delivering what you’re truly capable of?

If you’re serious about making it big in your career, you must get past this fear and do what you feel is right. Don’t let your fear stop you from reaching where you should be.

By taking a short break from the work or by simply thinking what worst can happen, you’ll feel much more confident and find yourself ready to take the plunge.

Go Slow

If you find there are certain complicated situations that are quite demanding as well, start taking baby steps and it will help you more than anything else.

For example, if you’re thinking about increasing your rates but are scared of doing it, you can talk to your clients and share your thoughts before finally announcing your decision.

Addressing one problem at a time is a right thing to do. As it is not possible to finish everything in one go, you should relax your mind and stop worrying too much. There is no need to over think and bother yourself with a situation that has risen.

If you’re too much tensed about not being able to make enough money to pay your bills, you need to first focus on making the perfect pitch. Everything else should take a backseat at this time. By not letting your mind wander to different places, you’re able to deliver a much better performance.

Multi-tasking

You would agree that it’s not easy to survive in the world of freelancers if you’re not good at multitasking. There are multiple projects to be dealt at a given point of time and then there is a long list of to-do things. There are looming deadlines and a tough competition.

How are you going to manage it?

The moment this thought crosses your mind, you feel struck and anxiety takes over everything else. You start dreading about the timely completion of projects and many more things.

Stop thinking too much!

Take charge of your thoughts. Focus on the project that is right in front of you. That is, learn to prioritize your tasks: what needs to be completed first and what is more crucial. This will help you regain confidence and faith in your abilities and skills.

It’s Alright to Seek Help

If there is something that is giving you a lot of stress, why don’t you consider seeking help from others?

It could be that you’re stuck with a problem and you don’t know the solution. Try talking to your colleagues or reaching out to experts online. There are a number of resources available online that can be of great help. It’s just about taking that one step. It will not only make things smooth for you but help you expand your knowledge and diversify your skill-set.

There is no reason to feel shy. Remember, no one is going to judge you and even if someone does, it shouldn’t bother you.
